Dozer goes to Detroit: Tips for Traveling with your Dog

Remember those travel tips I shared? Well they're all going out the window because I'm running really really late for some surprise travel. Dozer has a couple of his own, and he's ready to go! 

Travel Time: Rules of the Road

The importance of travel was instilled in me from a young age. Taking a trip together can strengthen bonds by creating wonderful shared experiences, and providing new challenges. I've traveled with my family from the moment I was born, and have learned the in's and out's of surviving enjoying the experience.

A few years ago, I started traveling with Anthony, which proved to be an entirely new experience. Over the years, we've come up with a few guidelines for successful "short trips" which we take once or twice a month. These have in state destinations, are day or weekend trips, and are usually under five hour drives. Tomorrow we have a 3 hour drive to my great grandmother's party... she's awesome, you'll meet her.

So what have we learned?

Chagrin Valley Shampoo Bars Review

Some time ago, I stopped using shampoo. Now that doesn't mean no bathing, or washing my hair. I just don't use "traditional" shampoos. I've tried the baking soda and vinegar method, and eventually found a natural shampoo that seemed to work pretty well, but I was still looking for something better. So, I was thrilled when I had the opportunity to test out a couple of Chagrin Valley's shampoo bars. (It didn't hurt that they're also midwesterners!)

A little getaway

This week has been an extremely uneventful one, being that midterms at my university begin on monday. (Oh, how time flies!) The "big deal" for the week was taking time out for a little R&R in my hometown, visiting family. 

I planned to share a little of what I pack on a typical weekend, but I soon realized there was nothing extraordinary about any of my items this trip, and decided I would wait on that one, and just share a little of the stable items.

My travel attire is always simple and comfortable. The more basic the more I am drawn toward it when gathering things for departure. 

When I arrived, I couldn't resist picking up a few new things. Even though fall is right on its way, I seem to be hanging on to the warm weather with my purchases this weekend. First of two peach shades, blush in peaches, and lipstick in ravishing (also a peach shade). I instantly fell in love with the ease of these shades. They were so simple for a quick everyday face and I can only imagine they will become a travel stable. 

And who could forget my newest travel companion.  A tumbler from moosejaw mountaineering. I always carry water with me during travel, and this was perfect for my trip. Easy to use while driving as there is no caps to unscrew, but still has a lid which prevents the puppy from sharing.
